- Daughter cells are genetically similar to the parent cell
- Used for sexual reproduction
- Produces gametes

Mitosis:
- 2 daughter cells are produced
- Daughter cells are genetically identical to the parent cell
- Used for asexual reproduction
- Produces body cells
