This might help:

"The story is about the struggles and life of an African American hotel worker. Throughout the story, the main character talks to his son about the differences between black and white, and how to not listen to other people when they are talking about his race. In the story, Ralph depicts through the main character that skin color does not make a man different, they all are equal and there is no superior race."
