In 'D-Daily', Montz's life in the military camp was very tough and serious. It seemed like he and the other soldiers appeared to be always ready for a battle or a fight that would arise. In the diary, it portrayed a serious ambience because of the formality of the contents of what he wrote (like what he did and what was happening in it).
